I write books with my brother, Andy Chou Musser. Growing up in a tight-knit, mixed race Chinese American family, we have been collaborating on projects (plays, recipes, science experiments) for as long as we can remember. I’m also a youth services supervising librarian at Eugene Public Library (OR). I support youth of all ages to become lifelong learners and curious readers. I have a background in the performing arts, including theatre, music, and dance.

Beginning reader books hold a special place in my heart. Since serving on the 2016 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award Committee, I have devoted much of my career to evaluating books and championing services for K-3rd graders. I found myself frustrated with the lack of diversity in beginning readers, and wishing for books that actively support developing readers, while at the same time fulfilling their need for engaging, page-turning stories. Finally, I decided to stop lamenting and start writing!

I’m a co-founder of Guessing Geisel (a mock award blog) which gives me yet another excuse to read, evaluate, and discuss books for developing readers! I’ve guest blogged and written articles for School Library Journal, Calling Caldecott, and Booklist. I regularly review for Kirkus.
